Charles William Morris's Scientific Empiricism
Main Article Content
Abstract
The article deals with Charles William Morris's project of scientific empiricism. Starting from the history of the project, the author considers the main theses of the project as well as its relations with semiotics and emphasizes the behavioristic nature of Morris's account of semiotics. Also, the author focuses on the relations between scientific empiricism and philosophy as understood by Morris and concludes that genuine philosophical activity should take the form of scientific empiricism for him. It means that Morris considers philosophy as "the language of languages", i.e. the general semiotics and the general science, which constructs the most general language for other sciences.
